Indonesia is a beautiful country. It is already recognized by the world. And during I posting in this blog, I always post something about Indonesia, for its natural beauty, art, and culture of Indonesia is endless. and for this time, I will post on the Komodo Island. The place is noted by the United Nations Educational, Scientific, and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) as one of the protected place. And now, hailed as one of the "New Seven Wonders of Nature" newly published in 2011 by UNESCO too.
Komodo island is located in the Komodo District, West Manggarai regency, East Nusa Tenggara Province, Indonesia. Komodo Island is the westernmost tip of East Nusa Tenggara Province, bordering the province of West Nusa Tenggara. On the Komodo island of, Komodo dragon animals live and breed well.
A little history, why it is called the island of Komodo dragons?
In 1910 the Dutch named the island in the southern province of East Nusa Tenggara isthe nickname of the island of Komodo. This story begins with Lieutenant Steyn van Hens Broek, a Dutch army tried to prove statements about the existence of a large animal like a dragon on the island. Steyn then kill a dragon and bring documentation to the Museum and Botanical Garden in Bogor to be investigated.
On this island there is also Komodo National Park, we can see 277 species of animals which is a mix of animals that come from Asia and Australia. In addition, we made ahobby of snorkeling, there is also a paradise of fish and coral reefs. At least 253 species of reef-building corals, 70 species of sponge, and 1,000 species of fish. It was the replace to live dugong, sharks, 14 species of whales, dolphins, and turtles.
